Pinda Sveda
Pinda Sveda and Jambira Pinda Sweda – Ayurvedic massage with herbal sachets
Skin-firming and nourishing pouch massages such as Pinda Sveda are one of the traditional massage techniques in Ayurveda. Pouch massages not only counteract cellulite but also support cleansing processes and promote tissue regeneration.
The herbal stamps are warmed up for the massage and usually moved in strokes across the body. This creates a pleasant warmth and promotes perspiration. Pinda Sveda is therefore a heat treatment.
In Sanskrit, sveda is translated as heat or sweat. There are various Pinda Sveda treatments in Ayurveda. The name and the massage technique depend on the content of the herbal stamps.
Composition of the herbal stamps
In Ayurveda, the herbal stamps are called bolis. For a Pinda Sveda we use fillings with rice, cereals, herbs, milk and oil. However, dry powder sachets made from roasted flour are also used. The preparation procedure is very similar for all variations: first the herbs are cooked, then the rice or grain is added.
Aims and effect of Pinda Sveda
The Pinda Sveda is designed to make the client sweat. The resulting heat stimulates circulation, blood flow and detoxification. Many massage recipients also find the warm herbal sachets very pleasant. Especially recommended for
- Chronic back pain
- Rheumatic complaints
- Stiffness in the joints
- Scoliosis
A particularly effective form of Pinda Sveda is the Jambira Pinda Sveda
If you wish, you can start with enjoying an Abhyanga (full body oil anointment). Then, you will experience the Jambira Pinda Sweda (lemon-coconut massage). It makes the skin soft, supple and firm. It is a special massage with warm herbal pouches filled with freshly roasted and cooked ingredients such as lemon, coconut and skin-firming oils.
