General massage information

Ayurveda massage

An Ayurveda massage creates a soothing balance between body and soul. Nowadays, almost everyone is familiar with hectic, restless and stressful professional and private lives. Ayurvedic massage stimulates and regulates the body’s energy centres and thus helps to reduce stress.
Ayurveda massage plays an important role in Ayurveda. Everything is geared towards the goal of positively influencing health. The oldest written records of Ayurvedic massage are more than 3,500 years old. This makes Ayurvedic massage one of the oldest existing massage techniques.
There are various massage techniques in Ayurveda.

The classic application of Ayurveda massage is the full body massage, known as Abhyanga. This term derives from Sanskrit meaning “massage with oil”. The use of fragrant, warm oil mixed with herbal extracts, and the long, flowing movements make this massage particularly soothing and balancing.

Depending on your constitution, there are many massages that are performed with less oil and/or more vigorously. In a personalised massage, both are combined to the perfect degree. In some cases, you also use raw silk gloves or herbal powders.

Why Ayurveda pays so much attention to the selection and composition of oils

The oil does not only have a healing effect on the skin, it also penetrates deep into the tissue, where it has a nourishing and balancing effect. Waste products and toxins are released and can be drained from the body. The energy flow in the body is activated, leading to a deep relaxation.
There are also partial Ayurvedic massage treatments such as a face and head massage, a back massage or a foot massage. Here, too, precisely harmonised oils are used.
Another type of Ayurvedic massage is the so-called Garshan massage. This dry massage with silk gloves improves blood circulation in the connective tissue, stimulates lymphatic drainage and removes toxins. The exfoliating effect also removes excess flakes of skin.

Application of the Ayurveda massage

Ayurvedic massages can be used preventively. However, they are also suitable for the targeted treatment of various illnesses. In this way, physical and energetic disorders can be gently and pleasantly eliminated. Muscles, tendons and ligaments become looser, and blockages are released at all levels. Improved blood circulation in the skin ensures purification and detoxification. But not only the skin is positively influenced. Ayurvedic massage also has a stimulating and health-promoting effect on the deeper organs, such as the heart and lungs.
Ayurvedic massage is also helpful for aching and cracking joints. The oil ensures that lubricating fluid is produced in the joints, restoring their mobility and flexibility. Overall, the Ayurveda massage has a stimulating effect on the entire metabolism. And last but not least, the enormous deep relaxation is a blessing for stressed people. Anyone who has ever enjoyed an Ayurveda massage will appreciate the great recreational value.
