About me
The highest good is the harmony of the soul with itself
-Seneca-
My name is Birgit van Dijk, born in 1965 in Salzgitter (Germany). I am married and have two children.
Various illnesses accompanied me throughout my childhood; my parents’ care brought me in touch with naturopathy and various forms of nutrition at a very early age. Since my youth, these have not only allowed me to heal, but have also become and still are a great interest and source of inspiration for me.
Like many others, I first trained for a “proper” profession, but I very quickly followed my vocation in natural food and natural healing. After many wonderful and labour-intensive years in various areas of organic trade and organic catering, I was drawn from Germany to the Netherlands in 1998 by love.
At the beginning of 2000, I started a 2-year Ayurvedic massage training program there, which I successfully completed at the end of 2001. But my interest had only just been awakened, so I then embarked on a 4-year medical Ayurveda training program at the European Institute for Scientific Research on Ayurveda (EISRA) in The Hague. The training took place mainly in the Netherlands with internships and congresses in India. In June 2005 I received my diploma as AP©- Ayurvedic Practitioner, with recognition from the World Ayurvedic Health Organisation.
My great desire to work in naturopathy sparked my interest in Ayurveda during my time in Germany. It was essential for me that a person is seen holistically as an individual, and that the treatments really touch the patient. I also wanted my great passion for herbs, spices and cooking to have a place in my life – I found all of this in Ayurveda.
In 2007 we emigrated as a family to the beautiful island of La Palma. In 2010, I opened my gorgeous practice in Las Norias. Unfortunately, the volcano that erupted in September 2021 had completely different plans for my practice, our holiday homes and our private house. In summer 2022, we moved to La Punta, where I reopened my practice in new premises after completing all the preparations. I am very happy and grateful for that.
Due to my diverse wealth of experience, as well as various specialised training courses and advanced seminars in a wide range of Ayurvedic massage and treatment forms, I am grateful and happy to be able to offer you a variety of treatments. Still, my most important motivation, apart from all my training and experience, is my love of massaging and treating other people.
I look forward to seeing you,
Birgit
